The Collado Family – From Vision to Hospitality in Goshen, NY

The Collado Family, based in Goshen, New York, is self-taught and hands-on when it comes to home design and construction. With a shared passion for creating welcoming spaces—and inspired by Emily’s lifelong dream of becoming an innkeeper—we began seeking out vacation rental opportunities in our hometown. With the approval of Legoland NY to be built in our hometown, in 2017 we purchased a bank-owned foreclosure property with the vision of transforming it into something special.

With the introduction of Legoland New York and a lot of elbow grease, we poured our hearts into renovating the home. Years of hard work, creativity, and hosting experience led to the launch of our bed and breakfast in the Fall of 2025. Today, we’re proud to offer guests a unique and comfortable family-friendly stay in the heart of the Hudson Valley.

Parkway House Goshen did not happen by accident. It happened because of Emily.

Every room in this house has her fingerprints on it. The colors, the materials, the little details you notice when you slow down and look around. Emily studied at the New York School of Interior Design and has spent years sharpening an eye that just knows when something works and when it doesn’t. Walk through any room here and you will see it. Nothing was chosen randomly.

The leopard runner on the stairs. The paisley bathroom. The sage suite with the private balcony overlooking the track. These were not Pinterest grabs. They were deliberate choices made by someone who genuinely loves creating spaces that feel alive.

And then there is everything else she does. Every morning Emily is up preparing breakfast from scratch in her own home and serving it to her guests. She makes sure every room is cleaned and ready to the same standard every single time. She handles every booking, answers every message, and checks in with guests before they even arrive to make sure everything is set. When people get here she knows the good restaurants, the spots most visitors miss, what to do with kids, what to do without them. She has lived here. She knows this town.

Her children David and Beatrix are part of it too. You might find them greeting guests, helping out around the house, or just being kids in the place they call home. They are growing up learning hospitality and hosting the right way, by watching their mother do it every single day.

There are a lot of places to stay in the Hudson Valley. Not many of them come with someone like Emily.

If Emily is the vision behind Parkway House Goshen, Dave is the reason it actually exists.

Dave ran this project from the ground up. Every plan, every permit, every loan, every material order, every person who showed up to work. He managed it all while staying hands on from the first day to the last. This was not a renovation that got handed off to a general contractor. Dave was on the job.

He ran 25,000 feet of electrical wire through this house. Over three miles of finish work and trim. Thousands of feet of drain lines, supply lines, and pipe. He drywalled, painted, poured concrete, framed walls, insulated, landscaped, and planted. He installed the flooring, the cabinetry, the appliances. He put together every piece of furniture in every room. If it is in this house, Dave either built it, installed it, wired it, or carried it in.

And when the physical work was done he built the other side of the business too. The website, the booking software, the technology that keeps Parkway House Goshen running behind the scenes. All of it designed and managed by Dave through his web design company, 2 Davids Design.

He did all of this while serving as a lieutenant at FDNY Ladder 32 in the Bronx, one of the busiest firehouses in New York City, and running his web design business at the same time. Three jobs. One project. No shortcuts.

By trade Dave is a lieutenant with the FDNY, which tells you something about how he operates. He does not cut corners. He shows up, he does the work, and he does not stop until it is right.

Parkway House Goshen is what happens when a family puts everything they have into something, with the help of good friends who showed up and gave their best too.

Parkway House Goshen is truly a family project, and no one made that clearer than Beatrix Rose and David Gabriel.

Beatrix Rose is a volleyball enthusiast and high school student who showed up almost every day after school and every weekend to help make her family’s vision come true. She and David Gabriel did not watch from the sidelines. They were in it, from the early site work and demolition all the way through to greeting guests, helping prepare breakfast, and making sure rooms were ready for each new arrival.

David Gabriel was right there alongside her every step of the way. Through this project he got something most kids today never get the chance to experience. He learned every trade from the ground up, getting his hands on every type of tool along the way, from hand tools to battery operated tools to gasoline powered equipment. He did not just watch, he practiced, he learned, and he got good at it. That kind of real world education is rare, and David Gabriel earned every bit of it. Close to earning his Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting, and currently applying to colleges where he plans to pursue a career in orthopedic surgery, David Gabriel brought that same discipline and work ethic to this project every single day.

Both kids were hands on through every phase of the renovation, doing the kind of work most adults would walk away from, and doing it because this is their home and their family’s dream.

Watching them grow through this process, learning real skills, real responsibility, and real hospitality, has been one of the greatest rewards of building Parkway House Goshen. They are not just the owners’ kids. They are part of what makes this place feel like a home worth staying in.
